NMC launched the new Test of Competence 2021 for nurses and midwives on 2 August 2021.

As well as reflecting NMC's new standards for nurses and midwives, NMC made some other changes to the new test:

  • The new CBT is split into two parts: Part A will cover numeracy and Part B will cover clinical questions related to nursing or midwifery.

Exam Materials and preparations will be assisted by MEDCREW LTD. authorised staff prior to the exam preparations.

NMC Test of Competence Preparation:

The OSCE is designed to assess your ability to competently apply your professional nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge in the UK. It is set at the level expected of nurses and midwives as they enter the profession (at the point of registration). This means you must show that you are capable of applying knowledge to the care of patients at the level expected of a newly registered nurse or midwife.

The examination tests your ability to apply knowledge to the care of patients rather than how well you can remember and recite facts. All of the test scenarios and any questions relate to current best practice and you should answer them in relation to published evidence and not according to local arrangements.

The Test Costs £794.00

If the candidate needs to re-sit, a partial re-sit will cost £397.00 or a full re-sit will cost £794.00.

* A partial re-sit will be required if you fail either the skills or nursing journey stations. A full re-sit will be required if you failed all six stations. If you need to book a re-sit please allow ten days between original test dates and re-sit to allow for additional preparation and digestion of feedback. Please contact info@asores.co.uk to book.

Becoming Familiar with Nursing or Midwifery Practice in the UK:

You must familiarise yourself with the ethical and professional standards expected of registered nurses and midwives in the UK. These are the required standards which underpin professional nursing and midwifery practice.

All healthcare professionals must work in partnership with patients, obtaining their consent and respecting their dignity and privacy. It is unacceptable for your words or actions to imply or express disapproval of any patients’ lifestyle. You must not discriminate in any way against those in your care. Patients and the public expect high standards of professional practice from nurses and midwives.

Diploma/BSc/MSc Nursing (Year of Experience is not mandatory to get registered with NMC)

IELTS score (academic module): minimum 7.0 in Listening, 7.0 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing and 7.0 in Speaking.

OET Score : minimum B in Listening, B in Reading, C+ in Writing and B in Speaking
